How To Use Academic Video Online: Your Alexander Street Video Account

A.k.a. Alexander Street Video. Includes American History In Video, Counseling and Therapy In Video, and Ethnographic Video Online.

Your Alexander Street Video Account

You will need to have an Academic Video Online account and be signed into it in order save and share playlists or clips of videos. This account is separate from your college login and password used to get into the database.

To register for an Academic Video Online account: Click the Sign In icon (the head and shoulders icon) at the top right of the page. Then click Sign In and then 'Register as a User' and fill in the information it asks for and click the Create New Account button. You will receive a confirmation email.

From then on, click Sign In icon at the top right corner of the screen as soon as you log in to the database to access and add playlists, etc.

Clips

You can make a short clip of any video and share the permalink to the clip the same way you would share a permalink to the whole video.

AVO video clipping functions

  1. Click the Clips link at top of video display page. Then click the red "Create New" button on right side.
  2. Click and drag the white circle with a red outline on the left to where you want the video to start and the same on the right to where you want the video to end.
  3. Give your clip a Title. Add any Description that you want. Set the Visibility and click Save changes.
